JoSAA 2018 Vacancy Position – Vacant Seats

JoSAA 2018 Vacancy Position – Vacant Seats: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority, commonly known as JoSAA was developed with the intention of using a single allocation procedure for the 32000 seats of the top rated technical institutes of India which includes IITs, NITs, BITM, IIITs and other technical institutes. Earlier, each of these institutes used to have their own admission procedure but with the advent of JoSAA 2018, the entire admission procedure is done centrally. In order to apply for JoSAA, candidates will have to clear their qualifying exam which is JEE main 2018 or JEE advanced 2018.

JoSAA 2018 vacancy position

JoSAA 2016 vacancy PositionOne of the major reasons behind JoSAA was to reduce the number of JoSAA vacant seats by eliminating unnecessarily blocking of seats in various technical institutes. Before the advent of JoSAA, students used to keep seat allotted to them in some reputed technical institute as their backup plan if they had an option of getting admission in the technical institute of even higher ranking.

As a result, seats in many of the technical institutes used to remain vacant. Due to this, some of the deserving and qualified candidates could not get admission in reputed institutes. This was a loss for both students as well as institutes. Thus, JoSAA was introduced to adopt a centralized procedure for the allocation of seats in order to make sure that all the seats are filled.
